The Message (MSG)
12-19 What can I give back to God for the blessings he’s poured out on me? I’ll lift high the cup of salvation—a toast to God! I’ll pray in the name of God; I’ll complete what I promised God I’d do, and I’ll do it together with his people. When they arrive at the gates of death, God welcomes those who love him. Oh, God, here I am, your servant, your faithful servant: set me free for your service! I’m ready to offer the thanksgiving sacrifice and pray in the name of God. I’ll complete what I promised God I’d do, and I’ll do it in company with his people, in Jerusalem, God’s city. Hallelujah!
As worshipers of God we are blessed beyond measure, for we know Him in a very intimate way. We have entered His gates with praise and His courts with thanksgiving. Lifting up Holy hands before our God – hands that are quick to bind up the broken-hearted, minister to the needy, the weak, and the oppressed.
How could we go out from His presence and do anything but His will? The same hands we have lifted heaven-ward in worship on Sunday, cannot be given over to sin on Monday. I love that David repeated that statement, we made a promise, and we will keep it. Remember the vows you made in moments of blissful love with the Holy Spirit? They must be kept.
Lift high the cup of salvation.
Pray in the name of God.
Set me free for Your service.
Together with His people,
I’ll complete what I promised God I’d do, In the place of worship, in God’s house!
